What We Do
Schuler Gemological Services is a full service jewelry appraisal company and gemological laboratory. We can provide you with peace of mind in all aspects of your jewelry, whether it be for insurance purposes; or getting a second opinion as to the proper purchase price, for settling an estate or helping you make that important first decision on an engagement ring. We specialize in providing you with documentation that will enhance your confidence on your jewelry purchase or for that treasured family heirloom.
Appraisals are by appointment only. Only a few days notice is needed to find a convenient time. Appointments are Monday thru Friday, from 10AM to 5:00PM. Other accommodations can be arranged if you have multiple items. Please call our office if the online appointment scheduler does not show a convenient time for you as there could be an opening or a cancellation that might be available.
If you have a raw, uncut stone, we do not have the expertise to value this type of item. Our equipment is designed to test and evaluate already cut stones and diamonds, that are already in a piece of jewelry or ready to be set in a piece of jewelry. We would suggest that you contact a local Gem & Mineral Society for advice. There are two in the Tampa Bay area that we know of. In Pinellas County there is the Suncoast Gem & Mineral Society and in Hillsborough County there is the Tampa Bay Mineral and Science Club. These clubs have local residents who may be able to help identify your raw material or make recommendations on whom to contact to get more information. You can also try contacting a local college or university to see if they have anyone on staff in their Geology department that may be able to help you.
